While helping her sister update one of the rooms in Grandma Pearl's house, Amy Allen discovers a secret staircase hidden behind the wall. She and Tracy expect the staircase to lead to the attic once again, but are surprised to find a secret room instead. Inside they find a drafting table, mysterious sketches, and an antique locket with photographs of a little girl and boy inside. Whose belongings are these? And why are hidden away? As Amy researches the Depression years in Canton and begins to piece together the connections between the desk, the sketches, the locket, and Grandma Pearl's life in 1933, she is reminded that she is not the only one to ever question whether God will provide. In a financial bind herself, Amy has been struggling to keep her family afloat on her own. But perhaps she will learn that God's provisions can come in the most mysterious of ways.
