From my perspective - Die Hard immediately loses several points, right off the bat, all because of the presence of that smirking, little turd, Bruce Willis.... To me, Bruce Willis is such an easy actor to despise, and there's really nothing more to say about it. Anyway - Willis plays New York City cop, John McClane, a failed father and husband, who flies all the way from NYC to Los Angeles on Christmas Eve in order to make some sort of ridiculous reconciliation with his estranged, little wifey, Holly. (So, deck the halls with boughs of Holly?) McClane is, of course, invited to Holly's company Christmas party high above in the posh tower of the Nakatomi Plaza building. When big-big trouble rears its ugly head during all of the merry-making, McClane steps in (with wit and resources to spare, like it was his second-nature) and turns into a literal one-man swat team in order to take care of the bad guys.... Phew! This guy sure puts Superman to shame. Yes. I'll admit that, on a totally superficial level, Die Hard was a pretty impressive Action Film. But, all-in-all, it was downright preposterous, too, especially with the likes of Willis at the helm of things. And Willis was, of course, the one reason why I rated this flick much lower than what you might have expected.
