A good idea but the poetry is bad and the whole collection smacks of self-righteous leftism. This is coming from myself who is on the left. Poetry by white males is disgraced and instead replaced by as many token special groups as possible. I don't mind this usually, but it's the fact that preference is given to your poetry if you're a half-native half-black lesbian blind woman in a wheelchair who was raised in South Africa but now lives in a slum in Chicago. Did I mention most of the content is bad? A lot of it is simply photocopied from "zines". Remember those? I bet most people wished they didn't. The text hasn't even been reformatted so a lot of it is hard to read, upside-down or turned 90 degrees. The only reason I got this book is that it was banned in some schools in the US.
