A prequel to Sullivan’s “hugely popular” Riyara Revelations series. If you aren’t already familiar with Royce and Hadrian, I highly suggest you start with the Revelations series first. I should have heeded the advice Sullivan gives in the introduction and done the same. This entire book seems to be nothing more than a heavily contrived attempt to get Royce and Hadrian together. The plot is weak, and there’s so much background and history that first-time visitors to this world (like me) are likely to be overwhelmed and leave feeling rather cheated of an actual story.
