Fine film indeed. Good acting and touching story based "mostly" on true events. Tells the story of a 24-yr-old jail clerk assistant from Agra, India, being transferred into a personal attendant to the Empress of India, Queen of England, Victoria, for her Golden Jubilee. The film covers that period, of introduction, to becoming a close confidant, from 1887 up until her death in 1901. Queen Victoria's successor, King Edward VII, her eldest son, deported Abdul Karim, along with his mother and wife after burning all of the personal belongings from his place of residence. King Edward VII, was succeeded by King George V, in 1910, a year after Abdul had died. Interesting biographical information, following the film. I had never heard of this part of Queen Victoria's history before. Recommended.
