Jones has a way of writing really great romances that arn't "really great". Lemme explain. You know the really great romance that leave you sighing over its dreaminess? You know, the handsome prince rescues the damsel in distress, the two fall for each other but their feelings are so complicated they aren't quite sure what to do, but once they tell each other they love each other, it's happily ever after. Well, heads up: FORGET THAT WHEN YOU READ A BOOK BY JONES. AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR DAT. The relationship between Lucy and Alex is anything BUT that type of romance. He's the naughty boy of the celebrity world; she's the shunned social worker at the bottom of the pile. Party boy wants a Congressional seat; Miss Social Misfit wants money to fund her nonprofit home for girls. The solution? Why, fake an engagement, of course! The mere idea is what sets this book on its roller-coaster plot. As always, Jone's writing is SUPERB, and she has this way of writing both extremely compelling, emotional scenes AND snorting-till-your-spewing-milk jokes. She is a master at that. Alex and Lucy were both great characters, and each had their own flaws. Lucy is a spunky, hard-working woman who has built her own destiny from a sad past. Alex, although having been handed life down to him on a silver platter, is a charming, rebel who has a softer more serious side to him. The story was great, and it is very funny. The twists were well thought out too. I was glad to see Finley's relationship with Alex and not just Will, because I read There You'll Find Me (the sequel to this dealing with Finley) before this, and that is one of my all time favorite books EVER. Anyway...read this and that too. You will love them both.
