Dorothy Parker's poetry and short prose pieces have been on my "to read" list for a while. The introduction by Marion Meade is fabulous. The poems and stories are more valuable as social and cultural history than as works of literature. Even though Parker tends to say the same thing over and over again ad nauseam, I'm glad I persevered to the end. The best stories and monologues (there are about 3 or 4 good ones) are found mid-way through the volume.
