Callie is entering Grade 7 and needs glasses. She already thinks she is different since her hair is frizzy, she has lots of freckles and she loves to write in her journal - glasses will only make her more different. The glasses she gets on loan until hers come in are particularly ugly but when school starts and she wears the glasses she finds she can read people`s thoughts. This might seem to be a good thing but it isn’t because she finds out what people really think of her. When the drama teacher announces that they will be performing Cinderella, Callie does not want to act but she is cast as an understudy anyway. Thanks to the glasses, Callie finds that you can’t judge people by what you see on the surface. Reviewed by BPL volunteer EE.
