Praise for Cossette! under the 'biblical fiction' genre, I decided to read my first book by said author . I was genuinely drawn into the created story of how a young girl, Kiya, was stripped of her hopes and dreams, but journeys to freedom, love and discovery of the one true God. I appreciated the author's take on the scope of Israel's dramatic deliverance from the house of bondage. Cossette provoked wonder and interesting perspective in terms of how horrifying the 10 plagues was on the land of Egypt and how the faith of the Hebrews was tested at every turn. I did feel that the story could have been shorter and still be as good, but I enjoyed it all nonetheless. The intercultural romance between Kiya (Egyptian) and Ebin (a Hebrew) was also well developed and very sweet. The characters were able to rise above their obvious differences and appreciate each other. I look forward to the second installment in this series.
