This is one of the very best novels I have read in a long time. I'm 29 years old and typically read "adult" books. But this is one of those YA marvels I am glad i ventured into. This is the letters ack and forth between two teenage boys, in deep pain with their respective health and life situations that are so alienating from the rest of most peoples' experiences. They both feel extraordinarily alone. They bond deeply, though they may never meet. They go through the deepest details of their lives and observations of others and the startling eperiences they have as they dip out into the world of other people so bravely, newly, fearfully. This is not a coming-of-age novel, really. It's not as cliche as that. As a person struggling with health challenges, extreme isolation, and significant life transition this year, this book touched a deep part of my soul. I think some tears fell. And it's both very bizarre and even outlandish, and also totally believable. Please read this, so we can improve this world together.
