Belongs beside The Big Sky and Jeremiah Johnson in lists about mountain men and the era of the fur trade. It's a bit limited in scope but well written and fast paced. At times the reader might be led to feel his kangaroo self bouncing along hitting only the high spots, then stopping to graze a while. But it's a fun historical novel about an intriguing time written by fresh talent.
