Dragonslayer (published March 2020) is the newest companion book to the best-selling "Wings of Fire" series. It can be read without having read any of the other books in the series, because it is told from the human/scavenger point of view. My daughter is a reluctant reader, but she has sped through all the "Wings of Fire" books. Out of curiosity, I bought this to read aloud with her on a car trip and loved it. The characters and plot are very compelling. It reminds me of a children's version of Game of Thrones. There is some violence in the series with dragons murdering others, war battles, torture, etc. Because of the violence I would say it is appropriate for grades 5 and up, although younger children will want to read them, too. Tui Sutherland has hooked me. Now I'm reading the series starting from book 1 and I love it. I enjoy seeing the humans from the recent Dragonslayer story pop up every now and then in the main series that was written years ago. Reviewed by Miss Susan
