Originating in Boston, Massachusetts (in 1976) - The Cars were a quartet of pretty hip dudes who emerged onto the "New Wave" pop-music scene at the end of the 1970s.

With their distinctive synth-pop sound (which was generously punctuated by catchy lyrics and up-tempo rhythms), The Cars scored a string of #1 hits that received plenty of heavy airplay throughout the 1980s.

The clean, no-nonsense sound of The Cars' unique music style can be directly credited to their lead guitarist/vocalist, Ric Ocasek, who single-handedly wrote almost all of the band's songs, himself.

Released in 1981 - "Shake It Up" would be the Cars 4th studio album. This reissue CD contains all 9 original tracks, plus 8 bonus tracks of demos and remixes.

*Trivia Note* - Ric Ocasek's father was a computer analyst for NASA.
