This book was not a psychological thriller but a cheap imitation, a reality show version that capitalized on the current fascination with gory details of criminal deeds. No plot, no action, no discovery.
Couldn't put this down! I recommend it. I agree with some of the other comments that the last few chapters were pretty predictable. I feel like there were a couple plot holes, but still well written, especially for a debut novel.
Nice scary book,,,, but lacked mystery. It was kinda predictable I read the first 4 chapters and the last chapter to the book and ended the way I thought.. its a good read just seemed predicatable to me.
Excellent for a debut novel.
I am almost done with this book...I will come back to leave my final thoughts but I must say....
60 Chapters????!!! It is a good book but it drags. I almost think the author had to make it longer or something cause it is so long for such a simple plot. I just had to leave that here. I did the audiobook so maybe that made it seem slower to get through but goodness.... I almost didn't finish.
Loved this book. Can't wait to read her next one.
Shocking novel for me, but still a good easy read.
If you like thrillers, go ahead and place this one on hold! This is a 5 star rating from me. Loved this one and cannot wait for Samantha Downing's next book: He Started It!
My Lovely Wife upset me immensely and I almost stopped reading this deranged story. Millicent, the lovely wife, must control everything in the life of her family. Even though she works hard to sell houses, she must still cook and clean and supervise every household task. Her unnamed husband, a tennis teacher, narrates the story. This seemingly normal married couple kill women and frighten the community to believe a serial killer from the past has returned. Of course, the husband only kills one woman, while Millicent kidnaps, tortures, and kills many women. As the story unfolds, Millicent’s fury and anger encroaches on the children. Samantha Downing uses short chapters in the style of James Patterson. As the terror and horror mounts, the reader plows on with the story. So many lessons stand out such as the behavior of the children. Have we turned into such as callous society?
