As much as I love Nicholas Sparks movies, this was the first of his actual books I've read. Probably will be the last. While others seem to enjoy his books and the plot in this was alright, I found his writing style quite dry and boring.

I've read quite a few of Nicholas Sparks books, and this one is a bit of a different take of the same old story. Likeable characters. It wasn't page turning for me, but I did finish it, skimming a bit from time to time. I would like to go to North Carolina someday and check out some of the areas that he writes about because they seem quite enchanting.
If you're looking for light reading, this is a good choice. A Walk to Remember is, and always will be, my favourite Sparks book, and yes, I read it before the movie. :)

One of my favorite authors. I've read all his books and this, by far and wide, was a deeply moving story. Wow. I felt this book in my soul.

Nicholas Sparks does not disappoint! Naturally, a box of kleenex should be handy - but then, if not your first try of a Sparks novel, you already know this. Well written, hard to put down until you get to the final page, and then you want to start all over to be sure you didn't miss anything along the way!

I like anything Nicholas Sparks so when I heard he was coming out with a new book I was all in. I was even more interested that it was loosely based on a true story. I kind want to visit the Kindred Spirits now. Good read.

Nicholas Sparks is a hit and miss author for me but this one petered out really quickly. The prologue, signed by the author, tells you that this is based upon a true story, but please, read the note at the end of the book. People familiar with "this is a true story...Fargo series" will know what I mean. Like other reviewers, I skimmed most of the novel and only because I was hoping it would get better. It took me 10 days to read the last 10 pages. Maybe they could do a better job with a Hollywood movie script where talented actors could bring the characters and scenary alive, something that the author failed to execute here.

After reading the first 60 pages, I gave up and quickly skimmed the rest of the book.

I'm very glad Every Breath revisited Kindred Spirit and the stories it told/tells. That's a wonderful basis for this novel. Nicholas Sparks does not write romance novels, he writes romantic novels, mostly fraught with separation, illness and yes, death then renewal.

Unfortunately, while the main characters had deep depth, there was little depth to how their relationship, their 'abiding for all time' love came to be. In that he is superficial only delving into what they thought they perceived rather than shared conversation, interaction and experience, which made 'the only one for a lifetime' aspect a bit unbelievable.

I was shocked and disappointed by the 'Author's Note'. Had I been thinking about the category of the book, I wouldn't have been, but, alas. . .
