They Know Everything About You is a groundbreaking exposé of how government agencies and tech corporations monitor virtually every aspect of our lives, and a fierce defense of privacy and democracy. The revelation that the government has access to a vast trove of personal online data demonstrates that we already live in a surveillance society. But the erosion of privacy rights extends far beyond big government. Intelligence agencies such as the NSA and CIA are using Silicon Valley corporate partners as their data spies. Seemingly progressive tech companies are joining forces with snooping government agencies to create a brave new world of wired tyranny. Life in the digital age poses an unprecedented challenge to our constitutional liberties, which guarantee a wall of privacy between the individual and the government. The basic assumption of democracy requires the ability of the individual to experiment with ideas and associations within a protected zone, as secured by the Constitution. The unobserved moment embodies the most basic of human rights, yet it is being squandered in the name of national security and consumer convenience. Robert Scheer argues that the information revolution, while a source of public enlightenment, contains the seeds of freedom's destruction in the form of a surveillance state that exceeds the wildest dream of the most ingenious dictator. The technology of surveillance, unless vigorously resisted, represents an existential threat to the liberation of the human spirit.

[UPDATE 4/12/18: So the latest is that Thiel's Palantir contracts originally came from the CIA, thanks to his affiliation with the American Friends of Bilderberg, and Palantir was working with Cambridge Analytica in their data harvesting models, and now Palantir is a contractor to the majority of US intel agencies {unlike Amazon, which is a contractor to ALL 17 US intel agencies}, and the parent company of Cambridge Analytica, SCL, used the shady private intel firm, Black Cube, just as Harvey Weinstein also used Black Cube {in Weinstein's case, to go after actress Rose McGowan}, and probably Thiel used Black Cube to go after Gawker; and, of course, Thiel sits on the board of Facebook since he was the original investor - - small world, huh?]
// 9-11 was a gift to NSA \\ - - said NSA SIGINT Director Maureen Baginski at a department conference. Easily 10 plus stars! A treasure trove of information! Robert Scheer, once an editor with the legendary Ramparts magazine of the 1960s, 1970s [THE WikiLeaks of that time], delivers another blockbuster, tying the strands together quite nicely, exposing supposed ironies as glaring actions and purposeful designs. [One clarification: Mr. Scheer reports on how Shane Harris reports on how Richard Perle [super war promoter/Prince of Darkness] connected Peter Thiel and his Palantir with Adm. Poindexter, ensuring major CIA funding {through their In-Q-Tel}, but neither knows how Perle knows Thiel --- easy, Thiel is a major donor to American Friends of Bilderberg, Inc., and attends their functions along with fellow board members, David Rockefeller [since deceased], Henry Kissinger, Jessica Mathews and RICHARD PERLE! Messrs Harris and Scheer have got to start paying attention to those IRS form 990s!] Mr. Scheer suggests that Palantir is the new Total Awareness Information program, and he may very well be right [others have suggested it was broken down into individual parts among private contractors - - See Robert O'Harrow's book, No Place to Hide, also suggest reading Patricia Goldstone's book, Interlock].
