Adorable and essential reading for any young child, parent, average human, or extrahominid species attempting to understand the concepts of "bigotry" and/or "empathy". Plus, what could be sweeter than the wonderful voice Jamie Clayton from "Sense8"? Nothing, that's what.

A heartwarming story of a girl who just wants to be accepted as one.

As the older sibling of a young trans person, this book was a breath of fresh air. Author Alex Gino destroys the myth that stories about trans individuals are "too adult" for children to understand or inappropriate for families. The story is simple yet incredibly heartfelt. Jamie Clayton's narration is loving and really brings Melissa's world to life, making the audiobook perfect for shorter family car trips. This book is perfect for middle grade readers but has a lot to offer for people of all ages. I hope other authors follow suit and don't shy away from introducing trans characters into children's literature.
