This is without a doubt the worst book I have ever read. P.C Cast’s idea of feminism is blaming the Trojan women for their situation, and her idea of humour is putting a black woman in a white girl’s body as the “property” of her white best friend. There are so many problems with this book beyond these two things, including her clunky, awkward writing, that it would take me an essay to get it all out. If you’re looking for a good romance, there are so many better options out there (the one sex scene is non-consensual, and if Achilles had been a woman, we would all be up in arms. Just because he says he wants it when he’s hypnotized and dreaming - does not mean he is consenting. Sex Ed 101).
(It would have taken Cast exactly 10 seconds to google and find out that yes, there were many POC in the Trojan War, including black people.)
After i began this book I soon began to realize that I basically knew what would happen later on in the book. if you've ever seen the movie Troy, with Brad Pitt in it, you'll know what I'm talking about. This book basically follows the same plot line that Troy does just through the book, P.C. Cast changes it into a much more challenging plot. It does indeed have many graphic parts to it, but they are needed to support her story. In my opinion it was a book good enough to keep me up late reading.
