In this novel, perhaps the author's best, Colin Harrison bridges the gap between the hardcore thriller and the literary novel. No current fiction writer handles suspense, sheer narrative tension, better than Harrison. His "Havana Room" is creepy as worms yet as engaging and ultimately satisfying as one of Paul Auster's better novels, say, "The Book of Illusions."
