In 2013, Joe Hallett wrote about Jo Ann Davidson in the Columbus Dispatch saying, "With an attitude that defines optimism, Davidson is too busy and has too many jobs to dwell on the past. Tomorrow, and the next day and the next are her focus." Always on the Republican ticket, Jo Ann Davidson was elected to a seat on Reynoldsburg City Council in 1967, where she served for 10 years. Her political career progressed to Truro Township clerk and then, in 1980, the Ohio House of Representatives, where she served until 2001. Her colleagues elected her as the Speaker in 1995, the first and only women to serve that position in Ohio. While in the Statehouse, she advocated for welfare reform and played a major role in the deregulation of electricity in Ohio.
