David Lynch ranks with Stanley Kubrich for his genius selecting music for his films - although the filmmakers live in different dimensions.

Lynch remixed one of the disc's finest tracks, Lissie's "Wild West" lending resonance to the original. Other standouts include the Cactus Brother's "Mississippi" and "She's Gone Away" by Nine Inch Nails (introduced by the emcee in Episode 8 as "THE Nine Inch Nails!"). No one can howl in existential torment like Trent Reznor. Julee Cruise, an atmospheric Lynch favorite, wraps up an amazing disc with "The World Spins".

The songs hang together even if you didn't watch the 18 hour TV series. Check it out.
