For those unaware of the torture, pain, theft, murder, and slavery eventually brought about by this evil doctrine/theory/ideology , then read The Gulag Archipelago by Russian writer and historian Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.
The communist manifesto is a historical book that has had a large impact historically and continuously today, one can say that this book is definitely controversial. This book established the meaning of communism, socialism and the concept of the bourgeoisie/proletariat. It is important to note that communism is a flawed theory made by Karl Marx that cannot be established especially in the political climate of the modern day era, still this book has given insight on different political ideologies and aconomics and how they effect society as a whole. I would definitely reccomend this book for someone that has an interest in politics, economy, business or history as the material in this book is rather dense and it would be advised to have some previous knowledge on said subject to really understand what Karl Marx is saying. Overall this book is quite interesting and should be read by everyone as it gives the reader insight on the past, the current era and possibly the future. It truly is a brilliant book. Rating: 4.5/5

It is wierd, they Library said this book's genre is non-fiction, but that doesn't make sense because after skimming through it its total fiction. How is this non-fiction. This couldn't ever succesfully happen in real life.

BETTER DEAD THAN RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol most of the comments on this board are pretty hilarious. This, of course, is worth a read if only for its historical significance, and its lasting effect on present-day discourse is hard to miss. All people should read this, if only to decide what they think.
Marx should not be taken as a philosopher as much as a dialectic. His writing is a lens through which we can analyze, deconstruct- we can use him to make sense of things. Marx and Stalin had nothing to do with each other. Marx was the kind of thinker that comes around once every century or so, and an authoritarian murderer of a ruler who used socialism/communism as a means to ascend to power should not be conflated with this brilliant thinker. And whether you disagree with Marx or not (I often do), he is brilliant.
There are tons of online resources that help to make sense of Marx, e.g. podcasts or youtube series. Most of what I've seen has been accurate and very helpful, especially anything David Harvey is involved in. If you're looking for an intro into Marx, give him a search.
I didn't read the extra commentary that this book comes with, and I will admit a lot of the actual writing went over my head. The verbiage was pretty dense but the manifesto was pretty short which helped. I'm not super passionate on this subject which might explain why I probably missed some of the key points of the book, but the whole proletariat versus bourgeoisie cycle was interesting, as was the concept of disestablishing it to break the destructiveness of it.
THE BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ THIS DESERVES TO BE OUR TRUE FORM OF GOVERNMENT!!! LONG LIVE RUSSIA!!!
The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx is a propaganda manual that is embraced by the left that includes Barack Obama,Hillary Clinton & Bernie Sanders, to name a few. This propaganda manuel is also embraced in American society through education & healthcare. You should read this propaganda manuel to understand why America is where it is. FDR probably got the idea for social security and other failing government programs from this book.
I would rather read the unabridged addition of War and Peace, again. This was the biggest load of rubbish I have read since the Book of Mormon. I trust the state even less than I trust the oligarchs and big business. However as a member of the proletariat I am not happy that I will most certainly have to work as a wage and debt slave until I die. So I do believe something needs to change but I am not nearly smart enough as to proffer an opinion on what that would be. Mayhap Winston Churchill was right when he said, "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others." However I would argue that we no longer live in democracy or a republic, but more like an oligarchical, military imperialism, wrapped in the guise of a phony duopoly.
