When Derek Deacon threatens to kill his championship rival, Alex Fanning, rookie driver Aidy Westlake and the rest of the drivers don't put much stock in the death threat- it's typical of the intense competitiveness and aggression in their world. But when Fanning dies after making contact with Deacon's car during the race, a conspiracy ensues. The TV coverage is edited to omit all mention of a fatal crash, police wind up their investigation without interviewing any witnesses and the drivers pretend Deacon's death threat never happened. Compelled to prove Deacon is the murderer, Aidy and his team push for the truth, but they then get drawn into a world of vehicle insurance fraud, organized crime and murder.--From front book jacket flap.
