Very interesting story about a fashion icon. History with a perspective different from what I learned in high school made me realize how complicated life was during those "simpler times". The storytelling is not judgmental or patronizing which made me appreciate the author's attempt to make it as close to factual based on his research and knowledge. How sad that in the end, the people Coco disliked the most profited and eventually owned what she had built. If she had embraced her origins and family, the house of Chanel may very well have been kept within the family.
