As a big fan of Murakami's work was glad to find the time to devour this slender volume. The mercilessly linear narrative detailling one man's progression from lonely childhood to troubled adulthood is gripping, and no easy answers are offered to the eternal conundrum of middle-aged man's failings.

A man has a midlife crisis when he rediscovers his childhood crush and questions his entire life. It's all very poetic... but it doesn't really disguise the fact that he's a two-timing cad.
