31/12 - I liked Connor and Faith's characters, but I don't really understand why Connor is a 'bad boy'. Just because he's an ex soldier and has a few tattoos? That didn't really make sense to me. It was like Connor was a cardboard cut out of a 'bad boy', with some of the appropriate personality traits stuck on him, but they didn't mesh into his character. They just hung on him so the reader knew he was the 'bad boy' of the title.

There were a few editing mistakes I noticed too. On page 8

"He pulled the gloves from the back pocket of a pair of stressed jeans."

That should be di stressed.

A couple of times, including on page 134, she uses fettered in completely the wrong context

His gaze fettered to the side, his gaze going a little too serious for the light moment.

'Fettered' doesn't mean the same as 'skittered' or 'flicked'. It means

restrain with chains or manacles, typically around the ankles:
"a ragged and fettered prisoner"
synonyms: shackle, manacle, handcuff, clap in irons

restrict or restrain (someone) in an unfair or undesirable fashion:
"he was not fettered by tradition"

So, if you read that sentence (and the other instances 'fettered' is used incorrectly) in the manner it's actually written Connor has manacles tied to his eyeballs that are forcing him to look in a particular direction. Doesn't sound quite right to me.

Probably my favourite part of the book was listening to Connor's internal monologue, hearing what he thought of Faith, or 'Cupcake' as he nicknames her. What he's thinking when he looks at her, especially when she's doing something quirky and he thinks it's cute (like the 'tinsel' on their Christmas tree). Faith and Connor's relationship began before the beginning of this book, leaving me wondering about the full story behind their first meeting and wishing I'd read the previous books in the series first (as per usual!). Will definitely be doing that when I can.
