The story moves along at a good pace, better than the previous installment, I thought. The characters are also a bit more diverse and interesting. We learn a lot more about Dalgliesh himself in this installment and his sidekick, Martin. Overall, an interesting mystery with a nice dose of thriller at the very end.

Roy Marsden's performance was enjoyable and easy to listen to. However, the digital file could use some editing as some of the introductions to the discs from the CD edition are hanging about. I also found the pace a little fast and listened at 0.8x speed in Overdrive.
