The infallible detective becomes really annoying very quickly. The ending is so ludicrous as to defy belief, seriously, being buffeted by a windmill blade..........please!
Other much better books to be read.
I really wanted to like this book, since I have run out of new golden age British mysteries to read, but my final impression is that David Dickinson is better at documentary making than mystery writing. I have already forgotten who the culprit was and I am not sure I cared. The little tags that the authors adds repeatedly after the name of the characters (as in "Richard, the second son of the murder victim") makes me think the author tended to forget as well. The detective couple is neither Harriet and Lord Peter nor Nick and Nora, in fact they are hardly a couple. Oh well the search continues...
