For most of the book, the reader will surely be grappling with the word "he" and who it refers to. When the author is following the serial killer, that pronoun features prominently. "He" targets a certain type of woman, and three delightful ones, Fen, Vivi and J.C., may fit the bill. Danger is not far away at any time. It starts immediately. In a torrential rain, Fen opens the door of her remote home. A bleeding man holding a knife stands there. Was his car accident staged? Will this be the first murder? There's much on several relationships, with the question "Should you be trusting this person?" front and centre. But it's a little light on the detecting for my taste.
