I think this is a good example of the Golden Age mystery, and typical for an Ellery Queen story.

The plot twists and turns and stretched my patience once in a while. I didn't find some things really feasible in a very convoluted plot; however, it was an enjoyable read in the "they-don't-write-them-anymore" vein.

Note: there's nothing to do with Egypt in it -- the title refers to the shape of a cross, not the actual country.
