Tehmina Sethna's beloved husband has died this past year and she is visiting her son, Sorab, in his suburban Ohio home. Now Tehmina is being asked to choose between her old, familiar life in India and a new one in Ohio with her son, his American wife, and their child. She must decide whether to leave the comforting landscape of her native India for the strange rituals of life in a new country. Once again, Thrity Umrigar has led her readers into a less-travelled-road. Her main protagonist, Themina, her son, daughter-in-law and much-loved Grandson play pivotal roles in this story. Themina is thrust onto a journey as to what she should choose - return to India or remain in the U.S. The story is one of belief in family, hope and identity. An excellent read!

This particular novel left me feeling positive, I liked the way that she interjected poetry at times which leaves you with something to think about.
