As a teen, being an alien in disguise with the ability to move objects with your mind sounds pretty great. The only downside is that you are ruthlessly being pursued by other aliens whose sole purpose is to hunt you down and end you.

A couple years ago, my friend pretty much forced me to read this book (I'm usually not into sci-fi)..... and holy cow, I do not regret reading it at all. I, a picky reader, was engrossed in this series. My love for the Lorien Legacies is the closest I'm going to get to true love any time soon.

Full of action I fell in love with this book. With a bit of romance it makes the perfect book. over all this is a must read book/ series.

I am Number Four is a great book for those who are beginning to read Science-Fiction books as well as those who are already into the genre, but it has its problems. While the aliens come to Earth from another planet is overused, Pittacus Lore puts a new spin on it by having those aliens (called Lorics) be hunted by other aliens (called Mogadorians). The Mogadorians are only able to kill the Lorics being hunted in order of the numbers 1-9 that they were assigned when they left their planet. This seems to be a major plot point, but during the book there is not that many confrontations with the Mogadorians. The book has many cliche aspects as well, which ruins part of the experience for the book. However the ending of the book was fantastic as it brings in new parts of the plot and develops them the best they can and brings more action to the book which makes it more interesting. The new parts add to the ending in making the ending better in my opinion. Overall the book is good, but it has some parts it could really improve on to make the book better.

Great book I though I was the character because I related to John Smith (number four).

I know this book got a lot of amazing reviews and all... but I have to say I can't agree. I struggled multiple times to keep reading, and I was never very hooked. Some parts were too rushed and not very deep, while others I wanted to just skip all together. This still was an okay book, I wasn't completely bored, just not very into it...

This book is amazing! One of my favourites. I read this book on the overdrive app on my phone and it was so cool! This series follows "aliens" from a planet called lorien who had to escape from their planet and move to earth because of an invasion. It's confusing to explain but that makes it amazing! 10/10

I wasn't much of a science fiction person until I read this book. This series is amazing! I HIGHLY SUGGEST READING IT. You will not be disappointed.

The concept of this book might seem cheesy at first; aliens with superpowers hiding on earth from other aliens trying to kill off their race. But I liked how the author didn't go over the top with it and presented the main character more as a teenager trying to fit so the reader could relate to him. He did a good job of weaving the supernatural elements into the story and putting a twist on the typical aliens on earth narrative. The backstory of the Loric people's planet and how they managed to create identities on earth is put together well. The characters are all complex and interesting. The book overall got me hooked.

This book was mildly interesting from the start, but it’s just so cliché that it’s hard to really get into. Page after page is full or stereotypes and clichés. For example, John Smith (who is one of the secret aliens in disguise) moves to a new city and starts at a new school where, on his first day, he falls in love with the first girl he sees, who is your stereotypical pretty high school girl who all the boys love, former cheerleader, and loves photography and pets. Oh, and I forgot to mention, her ex-boyfriend was of course, the best football player in the entire school, and all the girls love him. John’s best friend just happens to be the school geek, and together, they go on to develop what little action there is in this book. All the characters are plain, boring, and have no personality. The only character who is slightly interesting is Henri, and he is the reason I continued to read this book. I have to say, I would have enjoyed this book much more without Sarah and the story would have honestly developed much better without her magical solutions to everything. Although many things did bother me about this book, I would still recommend it for a quick read because some parts of it are suspenseful and interesting. The book starts to develop an interesting plot when number six joins the pages, and the action she brings makes up for the beginning of the book.

The book I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore is based around an alien named John Smith (aka Number 4) who lives on Earth. Eight aliens came to Earth when powerful enemies called Mogadorians invaded and destroyed their planet Lorien. And now the Mogadorians are after the eight Loric (people from Lorien), but the Mogadorians are unaware of the fact that they can only be killed in the order of their number. Numbers 1, 2, and 3 were already killed and now John is next. John and the other Loric must live in disguise with their mentors on Earth in order to hide and then fight against the Mogadorians.
I found this book to be eccentric and exhilarating! The first book of the Lorien Legacies series was the perfect introduction to the other books.
I rate this book a 5/5 star rating.
I recommend this book for readers ages 11 and up.

Whoa. Just whoa. Pittacus Lore has blown me away. Applause to him. You know what? Screw applause. All hail Pittacus Lore. This is one amazing book. Unfortunately, no cliff-hangers, but still, whoa.

I am Number Four is the first book in its series. It is about Number Four who is an alien from the Planet Lorien. He had come with his Cepan and the other 8 Garde and Cepans on a ship a long time ago to defeat the Mogodorians who had hunted down his people and to save Earth from them.. He is living in Paradise, Ohio as John Smith and his "Dad" or Cepan as Henri. He developed powers as he grew to save Earth from Mogodorians. As his time went on in Paradise he fell in love with Sarah a girl from his school and became close friends with Sam another kid from his school. The Mogodorians are hunting down the Garde in order of number because that is the only way they can be killed. Numbers 1, 2, and 3 are dead. Number Four is next.

Saulia Jul 06, 2012

This book follows the story of John, one of nine aliens with powers from the planet of Lorien. The opposing alien race - Mogadorians - have ruined Lorien, and the only remaiders of the race have fled to Earth. The Mogadorians have ruined their home planet as well, as they did not deal appropriately with issues associated with the growth of their civilization, a problem Earth struggles with today. The Lorien aliens can only be killed in order, and the book begins with the death of Number Three.

SAPPHIREBEAR15 Jun 18, 2012

John Smith (Alex Pettyfer) is from the planet Lorien. He was sent to Earth as a child with eight others to escape the invading Mogadorians, who had destroyed their own home planet. He is protected by a Warrior/Guardian, Henri (Timothy Olyphant), and has developed extraterrestrial "legacies", including enhanced strength, speed and agility, telekinesis and the power to transmit plasma light through his hands.

Number Four and Henri are Lorics and have been living on the run from the Mogadorians for a decade. When they move into the small town of Paradise, Ohio, things start to happen. Number Four ("John") falls in love with a girl named Sarah (who, by the way, is a human), he starts developing his Legacies, and the Mogadorians are locking in on him. Number 1, 2, and 3 are all dead, killed by the Mogadorians - and Number 4 is next.

The back:
Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live amoung you. But we are not you. We can do things you dream of doing. We have powers you dream of having. We are stronger and faster than anything you have ever seen. We are the superheroes you worship in movies and comic books--but we are real.
Our plan was to grow, and train, and become strong, and become one, and fight them. But they found us and started hunting us first. Now all of us are running. Spending our lives in shadows, in places where no one would look, blending in. We have lived amoung you without you knowing.
But they know.
They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They killed them all.
I am number Four.
I am next.
