This book starts off a wonderful series about a widowed bookstore owner, Penelope, who one evening finds out that her visiting author has been poisoned at the same time a ghost from the forties makes his presence known. But this is not a usual haunting - the ghost is Jack Shepard, P.I. And with his help, Penelope will solve the case and make some very important changes to her life and to those around her. If only she could solve Jack''s murder too. But then that''s for the next book. And the next one. And the one after that?
