A good book, but Asimov has written better. Still, it's a quick read and has some interesting twists.

Although this was allegedly Asimov's least favorite novel, I thought the plot was interesting. And the book was "mercifully" short. It didn't contain extraneous chapters/needless plot like some of his longer books (think "Robots and Dawn"). A good read.

The second 'Empire' Novel. Written in 1951, it predates 'The Currents of Space', the first 'Empire' novel and antedates 'Pebble in the Sky', the third!
