A true-crime story that reads like a novel. Lots of characters are involved in this story of an incredibly valuable pearl necklace, the gang that stole it, and the Scotland Yard detective who got it back. Luckily, there's a cast of characters at the start that you'll refer to again and again. That's not because the writing's muddy, but because the story itself is complicated and something of a farce. A delight to read. One of those cases where you know it has to be true because nobody could make this stuff up.

An interesting story, told in an easy, readable style. The author is excellent at adding the small details that bring the setting to life.
