I am so glad I checked out this library staff pick! I was challenged by the narrator's metamorphosis into the very souls of other characters, navigating the intricate web that ties them all together, and by the unexpected lessons in Biblical stories. But the suspense and gut-wrenching emotion were constant throughout my journey, and forced me to ask myself a key question about certain people in my own life...

I admit to becoming lost in the narrative at times in the author's conception of the workings of the afterlife. I loved his exploration of justice and spirituality and the question he raises

I read the whole book and for the most part enjoyed it. I did, however, have problems with the character flow. I understand the essence of the plot was partly in real life and partly in the after-life, but it was hard to follow. I can't help comparing this book to CrossRoads by William Paul Young, as I recently read his book, and enjoyed immensely I give credit to James Kimmel for bringing two very different subjects (the law/justice and spirituality)together. For a first book on this subject I give hm the benefit of the doubt. I will read his 2nd novel with anticipation.

I put the book down after reading several chapters. The pages never captured my interest, and although it was politely and subtlely done, there seemed to be some "teachiness".
