Too much politcal shenanigans for me

I actually read this book before I read Death Row. It is quite similar to My Cousin Rachael, beautiful, strange woman dominates the world in which they live. It is based on Ms. Du Maurier's grandmother. I would like to know which is true and which is fiction in this book. Quite a good book, but than I am partial to Daphne Du Maruier. I consider her to be a really good author.
