I wanted to like this book more than I did. I love Jessica Brody's writing style, and it's out in full-force. I love how flawed her heroine characters are, but how human they are too. Throughout the course of all of her novels, the characters come to realize where they went wrong in their lives, and try to fix it. Kennedy is no different. While she made her initial decision because of something stupid (a guy), the journey her character goes on forces her to take ownership of the mistakes in her life, and where she went wrong. As usual, the journey is amazing. Unlike some other "alternate path" stories, Kennedy takes full ownership of herself and her choices in the second life she finds herself in, even to the point of accepting the consequences for her actions, which is one of my favorite character traits in novels.

The problem comes with her best friend and her boyfriend cheating on one another. (This is literally on the cover flap, so no spoilers.) Kennedy spends the book reminiscing on how awesome a friend Laney has been to her, until the moment she cheated with Kennedy's boyfriend Austin...except the cheating was not a one-time occurance. It was something that had been going on for some weeks. I could never bring myself to like or care about Laney or Austin because of that.

So while still a worthwhile read, it wasn't nearly as good as My Life Undecided or A Week of Mondays.

Excellent path not taken road novel where price of private school & #1 student instead of public school & school crush was self-loathing wreck both mentally & physically. Her parents weren't better off with her mother not getting promoted & her father in high paying soul sucking long distance job to pay the bills.
Chuckled at brainiac younger brother's annoyance that he's a constant in both universes.
Oh, I hate saying this. However, Disney here's your 2021 summer film! Pay author well!
