Carrie would rather stay in bed than deal with the immoral, sex-obsessed hypocrites who seem to overrun her hometown, New York City. A 19-year-old genius, she's sick of trying to be like everybody else, but she's isolated, friendless, dateless, and unemployed. Very predictable movie. No surprises. The lead is an unsympathetic protagonist.
Don't waste your time.

I like movies about smart people and Carrie is very smart. This is a movie created by women, but there are no features or commentary. I enjoyed the film because of Bel. Carrie could have been a real jerk but she is sweet and very likable.

This is the most enjoyable movie I've seen in at least 18 months. The description doesn't do it justice. It is not just a "coming of age" story. It is the story of struggling to understand oneself and life--suitable for even the 60+ people who are still trying to be better people. No "action" no graphic sex, and no swearing--hard to believe it got made, but I am glad it did. If I had time, I'd watch it again before it's due. This is my new Holiday Classic to replace Holiday Inn, and I plan to see it every year.

"I have one life and I'm allowed to be happy."
Bel Powley is perfect for this role. Funny and entertaining. Plenty of smart dialogues.

This is a great script and well-drawn characters.
The young male characters mumble their part of the dialogue, so it is impossible to understand what they are saying. And, there was no "Closed Caption" options, so it was sad to hear them talking and not be able to figure out what words they were uttering.
English actors pronunciate their words, so it was easy to understand them.

A nice lighthearted movie.
