A previous comment has described the film as "tedious and boring". Exactly. The life of a teenager is just that, sometimes. I would've been 16 or 17 at that time (in 1972) but, apart from not smoking or shooting up, would've fit in with the group in some way. "Come on children" is an interesting choice for a title, as if the filmmaker is waiting for these kids to grow up and join the adults. The road to adulthood is paved with moments like those shown here, and we do know how one of the kids turned out (watch the film and you'll find out - he did just fine). I'd be interested in seeing what the kids of today would do in similar circumstances. Teenagers will grow up in due time but they do need to know what the future might have in store for them and I think this film is a statement about that kind of wakeup call.
