A wonderful book for talking with children about mindfulness! Sophie notices so many things - how her favorite tree makes her feel, what it looks like, how the leaves glow in the sun.
There's one page in the book where Sophie also very thoroughly notices her own feelings, when someone hurts them. Then, together with her teacher and classmates, we learn about art, the space we can make through art for all our feelings, all our observations. A yummy and beautiful book.

Our nearly 5 year old loved this book, it opened up lots of ways to discuss the characters opinions and why they felt the way they did, you can talk about art appreciation, feelings, conflict resolution, how to talk nicely, expression of yourself just to name a few, all without it being preachy. I think it is done really well.

My 4 yr old son loved this book. It provokes empathy when one child makes fun of another child's artwork. The second child experiences different feelings and in the end she feels confident about her work and the other child learns to appreciate differences.
