"When Jason Hanson joined the CIA in 2003, he never imagined that the same tactics he used as a CIA officer for counter intelligence, surveillance, and protecting agency personnel would prove to be essential in every day civilian life. In addition to escaping handcuffs, picking locks, and spotting when someone is telling a lie, he can improvise a self-defense weapon, pack a perfect emergency kit, and disappear off the grid if necessary. He has also honed his "positive awareness" - a heightened sense of his surroundings that allows him to spot suspicious and potentially dangerous behavior - on the street, in a taxi, at the airport, when dining out, or in any other situation."--provided by publisher.

I enjoyed reading this, but it mostly said things that I already knew. However, there is a fairly large segment of the population that would benefit from reading it, so I gave it 4 and 1/2 stars. I agree with some of the other comments that he spends a lot of time selling products, but I do plan on purchasing a tactical pen.

Actually not as good as I had hoped.

Not that it was bad, it was on the positive side of okay.

It had a lot of common sense information, information readily available from other similar sources, very little as "spy secrets".

The "secrets" in this book are just well-organized common sense. A lot of words are devoted to selling products on the author's website. His "free" offers don't include postage and for the amount he's charging for that, you can get several of the "free" items on eBay. If you can get past all the self-promotion, there are some valid tips.
