Warning - know in the first five minutes, there's a sex scene and later at the party, there is female nudity and sex acts.
Spoilers (though you already know what happens at the end)
I was surprised at this film. It totally engaged me as Jimmy tries to wrap his head around the inevitable end of it all and his goal to spend the last 12 hours in a drugged and drunken stupor so he doesn't have to feel a thing. What was completely enthralling, was the radio broadcaster giving a continuous timeline of the event: 'It impacted in the North Atlantic region, western Europe is gone...we have 12 hours left...'
Jimmy leaves Zoe, his lover, to head for the party of all parties and on his way, spots a little girl being dragged in a house screaming, by two men bent on raping her. Jimmy can't let that happen, though he curses himself for stopping, and rescues her. In the chaos, Rose had been separated from her father and asks Jimmy for his help to find him.
Radio Broadcaster: 'Central America is gone...'
Jimmy's goal is the party and Rose tags along. Once there, Jimmy realizes Rose is more important than he thought and decides to help her. Now it's a race against time and ultimate destruction.
Radio broadcaster: 'Hear that rumble....it's here'

Angourie Rice was fantastic as a young girl who is rescued by a lost soul played by Nathan Phillips. The writing is spot-on for a bewildered child desperately determined to find her father in horrible circumstances who ultimately restores her rescuer's humanity. I was surprised by this low-budget Aussie film with an emotional journey filled with both sinners and saints. All are only hours away from inevitable death.

It was an okay movie. One would think if people had a heads up on the last day on earth it would be something like the movie The Purge rather than a giant rave party like this movie. Guns would be shot like a 4th of July on steroids. Apocalypse is bad but at least you wouldn't have to hear news on Donald Trump, Kanye West or the Kardashians anymore.

i must be missing something. last day of earth, but character goes on the road for redemption. must be a very short road.

Should have a R rating or PG13 for nudity and sexual content scene in first few minutes. I couldn't grab the remote fast enough to turn off. Could be a great movie but never got past the opening scene. Just note for those wondering about the movies vague reviews.
