Valiant reimagines "The Brave Little Tailor," transforming it into a story of understanding, identity, and fighting to protect those you love most. Saville despises the velvets and silks that her father prizes far more than he's ever loved her. Yet when he's struck ill, she'll do anything to survive--even dress as a boy and beg a commission to sew for the king. But piecing together a fine coat is far simpler than unknotting court gossip about the army of giants marching toward Reggen, led by a man who cannot be defeated. Saville know giants are just stories, and no man is immortal. Then she meets them, two scouts as tall as trees. After she tricks them into leaving, tales of the daring tailor's triumph quickly spin into impossible feats of giant-slaying. But stories won't deter the duke and his larger-than-life army. Now only a courageous and clever tailor girl can see beyond the rumors to save the kingdom again.

Detailed review on my blog at navigatingneverland.org!

Anyone who adores fairy-tale retellings or fantasy in general will love having this book on their shelf. The story is interesting, engaging, and definitely a real page-turner. I couldn't put the book down. I know you will love it if you give it a try! A great book for children eight and older, but everyone will enjoy it! I look forward to more books by this author!

I really liked this book! It says middle-grade but I think it's more YA - there is some violent stuff in there. Not too gory, but I would rather older readers read it than grade 4-6. For instance, the giants eat people, strangle them, and wear necklaces of bones. The main character is actually 17 years old. Anyway, this is a retelling of The Brave Little Tailor, although the main character, Saville, is a girl. It's the author's debut work, and I think she shows a lot of promise, but there were parts that I thought seemed a bit disconnected. I think it could have been longer, and less vague. This book is a lot more than just a fairytale retelling. The main characters have a lot of struggles, and some things don't really get resolved. The characters are young but have to deal with violence and grief. I loved the romance. It's perfect - not too little and not too much. I recommend this for YA and Adult readers who like fairytale fantasy with some romance.
