This is a pretty good book. My favorite part was the update of the Marsh Chapel Experiment which was conducted in 1962 by a theology graduate student named Walter Pahnke under the supervision of Dr. Timothy Leary. The experiment involved testing psilocybin on a number of divinity students to find out if it had entheogen properties. It turned out that it did and that a large number of the students experienced mystical states. The follow up demonstrated that the experiment had long term consequences for most of the students and that many of them still felt that their experiences with Psilocybin were among the most profound experiences of their lives.
