"Revenant" -- beautiful scenery but the story is ultimately unsatisfying.

May 04, 2016 Now I see why this film won the Best Director and Best Cinematography Oscars. Also no qualms that Dicaprio won Best Actor. mho is that the film could easily have won more, with its 12 Academy Award nominations, especially for…

Intense and unpleasant, as a revenge-based story should be. I didn't find a lot of point to the proceeding, however. The better moments are Terrance Malick-esque, at best.

A great film: the sound, the imagery, the theme, and the plot all comes together very well. Terrific use of flashbacks. Although long, its never boring. Very much worth rewatching.

An excellent movie to watch. My only question is how did those early settlers avoid hypothermia? Other than that we recommend this film.

Close to perfect: loved the melancholic soundtrack, cinematography, themes surrounding native vs frontiersman fur trade...

This is a classic example of a very fine film that I would've scored higher (from a very weak 4 to a solid 4.5) if I could've accepted the following: I don't see, honestly, how Leo/Hugh survived that damn bear 'romance'…

This story was filmed as Man in the Wilderness in 1971. In the 40 years that have elapsed, we've lost the capacity for redemption; now we just want to lap up grim revenge

Grim, with some real "Bear Grylls" type survivalist moments and a graphic and terrifying bear attack. Epic cinematography and a great performance from Leonardo DiCaprio.

Haven't seen this movie in five years. It still holds up. That bear scene was incredible.

A stunning tale of survival. The beauty of nature contrasted with its grit and violence.

‼️Hey shlby69m! That's Revenant, not "Reverent"! I'm surprised I have to explain this stuff.

Beautifully shot, gruesome and harrowing...this movie finally helped me win our household Oscar contest with Leonardo Dicaprio taking home the Best Actor award in 2015!

This is quite an interesting movie and not one that’s simple to characterize. Much of it is quiet and thoughtful, but there is also quite a bit of harsh action and violence. The story is also rather grim, as bad things happen to good…

Required to view this movie for SAG, I would have walked out otherwise. My husband put it well when he called it "pain porn." Grotesque.

I didn't know what to expect going in (yet drawn to the star power of DiCapprio as some sort of mountain man), but man oh man was this a good movie! Just when I thought that Glass couldn't possibly take any more pain and betrayal, he…

I was absolutely riveted. Don't expect a lot of dialogue, much of the story is told through the gorgeous scenery and dream sequences. Very, very gory it is definitely not for a weak stomach. Based on the real Hugh Glass, a resident of St.…

Gritty, brutal realism as others have stated. It's not as high-flying as Fast/Furious or Mission: Impossible. It's somber and realistic. The guns do not have automatic firing features and the explosives are primitive, if there are any…
